The advertising sector steps up efforts against online counterfeiting and piracy

The European Commission announced the signing on June 25 of a Memorandum of Understanding on online advertising and intellectual property rights with 28 businesses and organisations from the advertising sector. The aim of this initiative is to minimise the placement of advertising on websites and mobile applications that infringe copyright or disseminate counterfeit products. This will help reduce the flow of revenue that such websites get from online advertising. The full text of the MoU along with the list of signatories are available here.
