Police, customs and health regulatory authorities from more than a hundred countries worldwide collaborated in an operation targeting the sale of illicit pharmaceutical products online.

The joint operation, coordinated by Interpol with support from Europol and the World Customs Organization (WCO), focused on delivery services manipulated by organized criminal groups, such as falsely labelling shipments.

Almost one million packages were inspected between 9 and 16 of October resulting in the seizure of $14 million worth of potentially dangerous medicines and medical products (expired pills, counterfeit syringes or fake contact lenses) and the closure of around 3000 social media pages, websites and online marketplaces.
